We Now Know How Massive GTA 6 Is Going to Be

How big do you think Grand Theft Auto 6’s file size is going to be? 70GB? 100GB? 182.5GB?? Surely GTA 6 won’t be… 210GB? Making it one of the largest video games ever made???

Yes, that’s completely right. Believe it or not, GTA 6 will be 210GB, making it one of the largest video games ever made. This is according to a post from PlayStation Game Size and corroborated by outlets including Insider Gaming. But what does such a meaty amount of gigabytes mean for the game and for you?

First, let’s face it, us gamers are always maxing out all of our hard drive space all of the time. You download 20 games from your library with pure intentions to play them later, then end up playing 400 hours of Deadlock instead. It’s okay, we’ve all been there.

When it comes to GTA 6, however, you’re likely going to have to find some room for this chunky customer by sacrificing the downloads in your backlog that you definitely won’t have time to get to while GTA 6 becomes your full-time hobby. And if you think you can just delete a single big game like GTA 5 (since you’re moving on to the sequel anyway), you’ve got another thing coming. GTA 5 is only around 120GB at its base file size (yes, I said “only” 120GB), which is just about half of GTA 6. Suffice it to say that the bloodbath in your library will be tragic but oh-so worth it in the end when you’re able to boot up GTA 6.

Next, you’re going to want to pre-load the game if you want any chance of playing it on launch day. Preloading is available on November 12th, just ahead of the game’s launch on November 19th. With 210GB content with, you may just need all of that time.

Despite being proactive, you still may have to contend with an additional day-one patch on launch day. But however big that patch may end up being, it’ll beat fighting for bandwidth with the hordes of other people still trying to secure their base 210GB on launch day. If you stay downloaded, you don’t gotta get downloaded. Or something like that.

So what do all those gigs translate to when it comes to the GTA 6 playing experience? Well, from what Rockstar have already confirmed, GTA 6’s map is going to be twice the size of GTA 5 and three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2 — and those are maps you can get absolutely lost in. GTA 6’s in-game models are also insanely detailed from the early looks we’ve been able to get, which would contribute heavily to the ultimate size of the game.

That extra storage requirement, though, translates directly into stunning character models with realistic features, beautiful vistas to admire, high-quality renders of vehicles and buildings, and more engaging content to play. A worthy trade-off, if you ask me.

Being proactive and downloading GTA 6 early is clearly the smart move, but don’t forget to be proactive about something just as important: the vibe. If you have your Pacific Skyline Wireless Controller for XBOX ready to go on launch day, the controller’s pastel hues, palm tree silhouettes, and hidden RGB skyline design vibes will pair so beautifully with GTA 6’s immersive graphics that it will transport you directly to the coast.

The controller’s premium TMR thumbsticks, mappable back buttons, and low-latency wireless connection will also keep you lost in the game by giving you superior control and customization options so you can play without anything getting in your way. I can’t imagine a vibe more immaculate than that.
