As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Turtle Beach is proud to celebrate and spotlight the achievements of Hispanic leaders within our own community through a series of interviews.
Today, we are proud to be featuring Adept, who has had a passion for gaming her whole life with a main interest in FPS games. She now shares and broadcasts that passion with her community as a full-time streamer on Twitch.
Turtle Beach: What do you think about when you hear “Hispanic Heritage Month”?
ADEPT: I think about my Mexican heritage and all the generations of hard work that made me who I am today.
TB: When you were growing up, who inspired you? Who inspires you today?
ADEPT: My mom and dad always inspired me when I was growing up and they still do today. They’re my best friends and greatest inspirations.
TB: Who are some of your favorite Hispanic/Latin characters in games?
ADEPT : Reyna from Valorant
TB: How have games with diverse representation impacted you?
ADEPT: Makes me relate to the character more. Emotionally and physically. Seeing someone with the same skin color, hair color, texture and features is iconic.
TB: As someone of Hispanic/Latin heritage, what has your experience been like in the gaming community?
ADEPT: I love sharing childhood memories that directly correlate with my mexican heritage and laughing about it with people from chat who have experienced the same things
TB: What is one thing you think the gaming community – from developers and publishers to content creators and fans – can do to better the efforts around diversity and inclusion, especially in gaming?
ADEPT: I think the gaming community could focus a bit more on non-stereotypical characters in general
TB: What do you want your impact on the world to be?
ADEPT: I want everyone who ever interacted with me to have left the conversation feeling more confident and empowered.
