GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: HOW TO BEAT RAKER BOSS FIGHT

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was one of the best games to release in 2021 and whilst it enjoyed strong reviews, Square-Enix has suggested that sales of the game “undershot initial expectations”.
But thanks to strong word of mouth, several Bafta nominations, and the game’s recent arrival on services like Xbox Games Pass and PS Plus Extra, there’s arguably never been a better time to download and try out Eidos-Montréal’s latest outing. We’d certainly love to see the developer given another shot at a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel having now been purchased by the Embracer Group in 2022.

Grand Unifier Raker Boss Fight Walkthrough
Chapter 15 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is called ‘Broken Promises’ and once you have saved Nikki from The Promise you’ll immediately shift into the chapters Boss Fight against Grand Unifier Raker.
First of all, it’s worth noting that if you prevented Gamora from chasing after Raker in Chapter 8 ‘The Matriarch’, then Raker will be fully powered during this fight.
However, if you let Gamora chase after him she will return with one of his arms and the Boss Fight in chapter 15 will be a little bit easier.
The boss fight can be broken down into two main stages, details of which are explained, just below.
Phase 1 –
First off you need to leave Raker alone and focus your attention on fighting the four Unifiers supporting him
Rather than splitting your attention, try to focus the whole team on one Unifier at a time. Also keep in mind that unshielded Unifiers are particularly vunerable to Lightning Shots.
Once you’ve defeated all four Unifiers, Raker will join the fight proper and things start to get considerably more difficult.
Phase 2 –
When you start fighting Grand Unifier Raker he will be shielded with faith energy and throughout the fight his shield will regenerate too. So you need to try to use attacks with high amounts of stagger to cause slow down Raker’s shield regeneration. Once you’ve worn down his shield sufficiently you should be able to stagger him and start inflicting some serious damage.
Generally speaking throughout the fight Raker will be floating meaning that Rocket and Star-Lord are the only ones who can lay a finger on him, so when he does get close to the ground make sure to get Groot to grab him and get the other Guardians to attacks and combo him whilst Raker is trapped.
The fight can be a long old slog, and the Grand Unifier also has 3 lives (indicated by the red diamond shapes in the top right corner) which means you will need to wear his shields and health bar down 3 times in order to fully defeat him.
As for Raker’s attacks, he can be quite devastating, but it is worth noting that all attacks can be evaded by players so just make sure to time your evades properly. Should Raker trap you in one of his barriers you simply need to double jump to escape. He can also trap fellow guardians so keep an eye out in the event you need to shoot the drones to free your squad.
There’s only one attack you can’t dodge and that’s when he plunges the fight into complete darkness, usually this will happen after you cause a significant amount of damage to Raker. It will make seeing things very difficult, and also prevents you from using Starlord’s lock-on as well as any Guardian abilities.
It won’t last forever, but he will keep attacking so maybe focus on evading his attacks for the time being when he does use his darkness attack.
Keep repeating your attacks until all cause enough damage to remove all three lives and a cinematic should kick in to let you know the fight is over.
