GTA ONLINE SMUGGLER PLANE EVENT: HOW TO START, AND CRASH LOCATIONS

GTA Online Smuggler Plane Event: How To Start, and Crash Locations

August 23, 2022

Following the successful release of GTA Online The Criminal Enterprises update Rockstar has added two brand new random events into the game.

The random first event involves a Smuggler Plan that issues a distress call over Los Santos and then crashes, whilst the second random event involves flares billowing smoke up into the sky leading to a Smuggler Cache.

Both random events offer the opportunity of new rewards and sometimes some RP too. So if you spot either of these random events, it’s worth investigating.

On this page we’re taking a more in-depth look at the Smuggler Plane random event and if you read on you’ll find everything you need to know.

How To Start The Smuggler Plane Event In GTA Online

Although the Smuggler Plane technically exists as a random event within GTA Online there are still a few hard and fast rules which will help you understand how to start the event itself.

Firstly, the Smuggler Plane event is available in any type of session and doesn’t require any additional players to be triggered.

Likewise, players will need to be in a session for a period of time before the random event can take place. In the case of the Smuggler Plane, players need to have been in a session for a minimum of 35 minutes.

After you’ve been in a session for 35 minutes the Smuggler Plane can potentially spawn, however, to make things a bit more complicated, the Smuggler plane will spawn in one of three different locations.

Where To Find Smuggler Plane Crash Locations

Keep an eye on the sky, because the Cuban 800 smuggler plane will issue a distress call before appearing and crashing in one of five different locations across Los Santos and Blaine County. The five locations are listed below (you can also see some on the video further down):

  • Mirror Park – Land Act Reservoir
  • Vinewood Hills – Lake Vinewood
  • Tataviam Mountains – Pacific Ocean (near the Coveted Cove)
  • San Chianski Mountain Range (near Grapeseed) – Alamo Sea
  • Cassidy Creek – North Chumash

The crashed plane will appear as a blue dot on the radar and you should be able to spot a trail of black smoke left behind from the plane itself.

If you follow the plane to the crash site you can scour the wreckage for some “illicit prizes” which comes in the form of a briefcase full of $25,000.

Do note that a 2-star wanted level will be triggered as soon as you approach the search area for the crash site.
