DIABLO IMMORTAL RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED FOR JUNE 2 – AND IT’S COMING TO PC TOO

Diablo Immortal release date confirmed for June 2 – and it’s coming to PC too

April 25, 2022

Several years after Blizzard first announced Diablo Immortal, the game finally has a release date. This was the first Blizzard game designed from the ground up for mobile, but in a surprise move the company has also announced it will be coming to PC too.

Blizzard announced Monday that the mobile version of the game is earmarked to release on June 2, but it will also launch in Open Beta on PC the same day. Players can now sign up for the Open Beta ahead of launch in June.

Thankfully the game will also support both cross-play and cross-progression, meaning players can enjoy the game with each other regardless of platform while being able to seamlessly transition between mobile and PC gameplay.

According to Blizzard’s Diablo Immortal website, the game is set to focus on “untold chapter in the Diablo Saga” which takes place between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.

“The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions. Fragments of the shattered Worldstone, still embued with great power, are tainting the land.” reads a story synopsis on Blizzard’s site.

“With the fate of Sanctuary in their hands, players will choose between six iconic Diablo classes –Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, or Wizard – and embark on a journey through eight unique zones and the great city of Westmarch. They will join up with new and familiar Diablo characters, including the franchise’s patriarch Deckard Cain, on an expansive quest to hunt down the shattered pieces of the corrupted Worldstone before the forces of the Burning Hells can gather them for their own sinister plans.”

As well as featuring the typical RPG experience of a Diablo game, Immortal is more akin to a MMOARPG (massively multiplayer online action-RPG) and will offer something slightly new for fans of the series.

Players will share a massive world with others as they explore Sanctuary, and can form Warbands with up to eight members to take on group challenges such as the intense Helliquary raid bosses, as well as joining Clans with up to 150 friends to earn challenging Clan Achievements.

Unlike older Diablo games, Immortal also features a faction-based PvP system.

“With the Cycle of Strife, players can band together to fight in an ongoing war in which the top player of the server will earn the Eternal Crown to become the leader of the Immortals” a press release explained. “This puts them in the position of having to continuously defend their reign across a series of modes including brutal 1v30 showdowns.”

You can pre-register to play Diablo Immortal on PC or mobile on the official Diablo Immortal website.
