For as long as ARK Survival Evolved has existed, so to has the ‘Taming’ feature. Essentially Taming allows players to calm the games many creatures until they become easier to control, and eventually subservient to the player. There are many reasons to creatures in ARK, from riding, storage, hunting and defending your property, so there’s plenty of upsides to doing it.

Unfortunately, Taming is not easy and can be quite convoluted. In most cases, you need to incapacitate the creature before feeding it the correct food until it becomes completely docile towards you. Of course this isn’t the only way, but it is the most common method. Additionally, there are some creatures are so unruly that they simply cannot be tamed. You’ll know which creatures are untamable as they won’t have the ‘Wild’ prefix next to their name.

At some point or another, most players will be probably be thinking ‘what is the easiest way to tame in ARK‘ and the answer, is to use the Force Tame command. Which is a bit of a cheat, but regardless, it is the easiest way to tame in ARK Survival Evolved.

How To Use The Force Tame Command In ARK

Before you can force tame creatures in ARK you’ll need to know how to open the command console to enable cheats. Since the process of doing this is different depending on which platform you’re playing, we’ve listed all four ways below.

• PC: Press TAB key to pull up the admin console.
• Xbox: Pause the game. Now press LB + RB + X + Y at the same time to bring up the admin bar.
• PlayStation: Pause the game. Now press L1 + R1 + Square + Triangle at the same time.
• Switch: Pause the game. Now press ZL + ZR + X + Y at the same time.

Next you need to get up close to the creature until you can see its name and level appear on screen. With your crosshair aimed at the creature open the command console and enter the command “forcetame”. This will forcefully tame the creature and any creatures tamed with this command can also be ridden without a saddle.

How To Force Tame Multiple Creatures in ARK At Same Time

If you want to force tame a group of several creatures at once you don’t have to force tame them one at a time. Instead, you can use another cheat to allow you to Force Tame all creatures within a set radius from your position.

If you open the command console and use the cheat “ForceTameAOE <radius>” you’ll be able to force tame multiple creatures at the same time. Obviously you want to put a number rather than ‘<radius>’ but if you don’t put anything it will default to a radius of 2000.

Force Tame Not Working In Ark?

It’s worth noting that if you’re playing singleplayer cheat commands should work as soon as you enter them.

However, if you’re on a multiplayer server you will need to have the admin password. If you have this, you simply open the command bar and type ‘EnableCheats <password>’ before you can use the cheats.

Obviously, if you don’t have the admin password (maybe the admin doesn’t want cheats being used on your particular server) then you’ll just have to tame those creatures the good old-fashioned way with a lot of hard work.
